BEST FARMERS MARKET IN THE UK
Marylebone Farmers Market is in the final 3 for the best farmers market in the UK 2024 after the finalists were revealed by the Farm Retail Association.
Innovative and inspiring businesses from all corners of the country have been considered and Marylebone Farmers Market has been judged to be outstanding.
Marylebone Farmers Market celebrated its 20th year this year. It is as central as you get in London and London Farmers Markets are proud to have been instrumental in bringing fresh produce week in week out to the heart of the capital. The market takes place every Sunday 10am – 2pm with over 40 amazing farm and food stalls, offering a uniquely fresh and essential service to Londoners.
Chair of the Farm Retail Association, Emma Mosey said: “Farm shops and farmers markets continue to be the nation’s retail beacons for sourcing fresh and nutritious produce with low food miles, from passionate and knowledgeable often family-run, independent businesses.
“It is right that we celebrate the crucial role that these invaluable food and drink retailers play at the heart of the communities they serve. Running throughout our finalists are inspiring stories of innovation, consistent quality produce and customer service excellence: terrific achievements and qualities that have been demonstrated during a challenging period for retailers amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
“Congratulations to everyone who is shortlisted and good luck. This is your time to shine, and we are looking forward to celebrating your achievements in March at our grand awards ceremony!”
Ian Smith Director at London Farmers Markets said: ” This is great news for the farmers market and is down to the dedication and great food produced by the businesses that attend the market every Sunday. We’d like to pay tribute to them and thank the loyal customers of Marylebone who shop at the farmers market every week come rain or shine, snow or pandemic. The Marylebone Farmers Market’s future was uncertain for a while as developers built on our former home in the old car park. But thankfully massive community support and backing from the City of Westminster has secured the farmers markets home on the street for many years to come”
“What better place is there to come and buy or order ingredients for your Christmas lunch?”
The awards (sponsored by specialist retailer COOK) will take place on Tuesday 5th March at Holiday Inn Peterborough West as part of the FRA’s annual Stronger Together event, 2024.
Marylebone Farmers Market takes place every Sunday 10am -2pm on St Vincent Street and Aybrook Street just off Marylebone High Street.
