Because bananas don't grow in the UK. We do have whatever is in season, freshly picked, good value and delicious.
We're reading about some supermarkets capping sales of fresh produce. At the moment you won't find tomatoes or cucumbers (come back in warmer weather) but you will find cauliflowers, cabbages, purple sprouting broccoli, plenty of root vegetables and winter leaves. It is going to be hot in August and what better place to be but with friends at home, eating outside or relaxing around the barbeque. If not at home then at a picnic in the park. You will find all you need at market from sizzling sausages, burgers & steaks to sweetcorn & aubergine for the barbeque. And for picnics you will find scotch eggs, cured ham, cheeses, pickles and all sorts of goodies like strawberries and cream.
